What the?!?! The Mayor of Kapiti was at our school?!

Hello my name is Kahutia and i'm going to tell you about something really boring but read anyway I might get better grades. On the 11th of march me and the year eights, not to be rude, but we got dragged into a ceremony that was super long and boring but i'm gonna bring you down with me. About this ceremony there were a whole bunch of special people that fought in the war and captains for the navy and some soldiers came. Three of our teachers welcomed them in using a technique called the Karanga, the teachers that did the karanga, names were Whaea Destine and Whaea Maharata you won't know these people but they are important to the story because of how important this role is. After and of the special people came in a priest walked up to the lectern and gave a speech about a ship called the SS Otaki and the SMS Moewe, about all of the people that lost their lives fighting in the war. After he finished his speech he invited the principal to have a word with everyone half of the speech was in Te Reo Maori than the other half was English after he did that we all stood up to sing a song to the others.  I'm not sure if it was the priest or the principal that gifted the stuff to the special people i'm just going to say the priest did. So the priest went back up to his stand and started giving the special people wreaths to put on the statue of the SS Otaki to show our respect towards them. When they finished we stood up and sung again. Than the orchestra started playing than put the flags half down and we had a minute of silence. Than once all of this finished the priest went up and asked all of the special people to join them in the staff room for a cup of tea.

In the ceremony I enjoyed the orchestra and something I learnt was the flag half down.
hopefully this writing bored you :)

Every time the colours changed was a new paragraph.
