Insignificant Post

WALT:Learn to write using more detail.

During this week I and many other people in my class have learned to do much more things. I have learnt to throw a Frisbee properly.  My technique was fraud and after learning the right way I have become a better player.

School has been quite fun lately. I had fun in and out of class. Lunch times have been getting shorter (at least it feels like it). In class I have learnt new things. I really enjoyed learning these.

Image result for thumbs upI really think I need to work on my algebra. Today the 22nd of November we had a maths test only on algebra and I wasn't to happy with my results.

Tokyo & Stone

Dead Topic (maths)

WALT: Add detail in our writing.

Hey this introduction will include the things that will be in this story. I will write about 3 different topics meaning 3 different paragraphs.

1. The Things I Learnt.
I have been learning how to do proper algebra during classes. I have found this as a weak point in my maths and I will try to overcome this weakness by learning and doing more of it. While learning algebra we also have acquired the knowledge of problem solving. I like doing problem solving as I makes the most of reading and putting clues together.

2. 1 Thing I Need To Work On.
Image result for mathsAs I explained in the last paragraph I think algebra is definitely a weak point; because I haven't figured out how to make/find a algebraic rule. The word rule isn't very hard.

3. 1 Thing I Enjoyed
I could say this over and over but I enjoy doing maths especially problem solving. I can't describe the thrill of putting effort into something and getting the answer correct.

The Mystic Sea

This overstated title is somewhat related to this artwork. Hello again welcome back to my awesome narration stories.

The day riddled with sun, today was the day to go to the beach finally it has come. The vans were ignited and the engines started to roar. We headed through Otaki with happy or dull expressions.  Lee explained how we were the best group; that she had taken in the van. The beach was nearing; my excitement couldn't be explained even if I tried.

In a bundle the vans came to a full stop, we headed out of the van and meet the lifeguards. They introduced them as Cassie, Sophrose and Lisa. After the lifeguards intrigued us with their names, we followed them towards the stairs and later to the top floor. When we reached the top they told us about CPR and IRB boats. CPR was taught by showing us the positions and teaching us the ratios.

Finally we finished the CPR procedures and were headed down to the beach. First we grabbed a glove and a bag to find rubbish. Then we all walked the beach which was awesome in its own way. We ended up gathering a whole lot of rubbish from the beach and ultimately dumping it. While doing that I realised how great it was to clean the beach.

The time had come to swim, but we did a few challenges before that. First was the wheatbix challenge. So how we did that was the first one to finish eating a dry bit of wheatbix wins. It might sound easy but the dry wheatbix sticking to the top bottom and sides of your teeth sucks. I didn't get near winning because I quit after one crusty as bite.

For the second we built a human tower/pyramid. For starters we arranged the group of people into groups like the people at the bottom, middle and top. then we put them in to play. The group that was gunning for first place failed to win but now we have the memory.

Last but not the least it was the famous chubby bunny challenge. There weren't that much marshmallows so there were a bunch of victors. But for the thing we have all been waiting for is going on hold because we had to each lunch but then we finally went to the water.
Swimming was great and it also introduced a lifeguard we had all seen before, introducing Damien Doyle lifeguard mode.

IRB time after Damien arrived he took me and Sophrose out to the water. I was the rescue dummy basically, they took me out and dropped me off. Then they came back to rescue me. It was really fun which meant I enjoyed the trip and one day I hope to ride one of the boats again.

Labor Weekend: The Journey To Tauranga

The wind was cold the moon hidden behind the murky clouds. This is the best time to travel but, we all know my family slept in. Hey didn't see you there, welcome back to my awesome story (not really). This time I will write about a great labor story, and no not the pregnant type.

The clock sharp, it's almost 7 am but my family still won't wake up.
"Get up!" I shouted, but of course no one listened. I decided that it would be a great idea to go to sleep, but then I would be as bad as those meatheads. I walked around the house for a bit than entertained myself by watching anime, yes anime. You might see that as cringe but I weeb itself I gladly would watch anime any day. *Boom* A crash from up the stairs, a glow flew to my eyes.

The journey was close, I waited for them to get ready and pack but that didn't take long. Soon we all raced to the cars to leave Wellington, New Zealand. We were driving all the way up to Tauranga, well that's what I thought. We actually went to a town a bit further than there. This town is called Waihi, it's like New Zealand's Hawaii. We travelled through Otaki and I wanted to stop to see some other family members but instead I kept my mouth closed.

Levin a richer version of Otaki (Otaki's so much better though) was our first stop. We came to have something to eat, I don't think writing about McDonald's will be necessary. After our meal we continued up to the Desert road. The Desert road is what I think is one of New Zealand's greatest Landmarks. This road held  mountains/volcanoes ,  famous corners and army members driving the desert part. We drove past the famous mountains Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe, they were quite the sight to bear.

"Where are we stopping next?" I asked
"Taupo" A reply from my Koro
We were so close the vast lake of Taupo came to view. I was amazed, lake Taupo is a huge super volcano. Some say that if it were to blow our country would fall. Shortly after we arrived to Taupo we went to one of the best cafes ever. We ordered and left after eating and we were now in Tauranga.

We stopped at a marae to visit some family members and later went to a holiday park to stay for the weekend. It was fun for the most part. We headed to bed and now the morning started we travelled down the the community hall to celebrate my cousins 21st. We had fun partying and eating, I also got to catch up with my cousin that I hadn't seen in a long time. After the party ended it was time for the adults to party. We kids left back to the holiday park to rest.

The day after me and my Dad went to a gold mine which I don't know where it is. We left to Hamilton to catch a plane back to wellington. I had fun on the plane watching videos and playing games. The clouds looked like a bellet dancing through the sky. I got quite a bit of videos and photos which will entertain me for a while.

In conclusion, the trip was amazing and would love to go back.

Respect, O.C Pride, Active Learner And Responsibility

At my school we have a thing called ROAR. This represents the title, cheesy right. I'm going to explain why we have the ROAR as well as why it's important.

The ROAR is at school because it guides us on the right path. If we do not follow this correctly we are ultimately being disrespectful. We are expected to follow the ROAR teachers and students. That is why we have it and why we need it.

R of (R)OAR means respect e.g. listening so on. O of R(O)AR. That means O.C Pride. O.C Pride e.g. Wearing the right uniform. A of RO(A)R means Active Learner. An Active Learner e.g. Staying on task and finishing work on date. The last but not least R of ROA(R). This R means Responsibility. An example of that is being trusted with making the right choices and staying out of trouble.

The Enhanced Flower

Despite the name this will not be a story. I will write about the things I need to work on/things I did well on. So enjoy my mixed-blessing assignment.

So this week has gone quickly and with that I have learned some new things. I learnt about algebra during maths and coding during digital media. Algebra was always tricky for me but I think I came to an understanding. The problem we did; included an equation which was "what is the rule"
We found that rule in word but not in an algebra form. The group in front presented and that is what helped me.

In digital Media I found that coding was quite easy as well. The tutorial lead us straight to the code and that helped me form some commands; like making 100 chickens.

I have a goal I pursued and I captured that goal in full sprint. I was trying to get in the highest group of maths, because I thought I could do better than I had then.

The one thing I always need to work on is, staying focused and keeping an eye on the project at hand. I seem to stray off and slowly get through tasks.   Image result for Books

Things I Need To Build My Skills On

Hey this is a class work piece and won't be anything worth reading so scroll past if you must.

This week the holiday came to a cunning end, school was back in action. With the start of school, Kahutia will write about what he enjoyed. I as a kid would obviously say they would rather do something else rather than learn but this was exciting. I enjoy writing story's about my holiday, but also needed working on staying focused. Next week i'm going to target this goal and become an active learner.

Holiday:The Boring Adventure

Hello as you can see i'm pretty tired but that's not the problem right now. So today I will talk to you about the depressing life of Kahutia.

It's Thursday the second to last day of school, he was regretting to come to school (as anyone else would), but things were looking bright. Kahutia decided to strike before to enemy. Not knowing how to start. He left school with a smile on his face and took his chances. He returned home and talked about the next day which included them having a fun day for the people whom had finished their work. Kahutia didn't go to school thinking that he was done with his work and would rather stay home. He was feeling sick anyway.

The holiday has began. He raced towards freedom which would result in tragedy. Kahutia did absolutely nothing which made his double guess not going to school on Friday. He was about to go aboard a train to travel farther down north which as you guessed is wellington. He did nothing but play games, sleep and of course eat. He left wellington in despair.

He went back to Otaki bored but had something planed he would get his hair shortened and piercings through his ears. He succeeded to do this and now is back at school.

The Maths Blog

Hey, longtime no see. Today we have some more bothersome maths tales.

So today at school me and my fellow class whom I had no idea what were doing, tried out some more maths. Like the last blog it was more problem solving, depressing right? Well this time it wasn't so bad because the problems weren't that hard. It still took some time to figure out what the problem was asking me to do.  Unlike certain days this was a lone wolfs time to shine (not really) but you get what I mean. Today I learnt that I tend to overlook the question which leads to loss in time, also that is what I need to work on. To solve these two questions, I read through the problem to find the clues, can you do it too?

The Mystery Of Tupaia

Image result for TupaiaWelcome back hope you didn't miss me to long. I am going to pick you up on the journey about Tupaia. First i'm going to tell you who he is. Tupaia was known as a navigator, translator, voyager, artist and a high priest. Mostly he travelled long and wide with Captain James Cook. They came to New Zealand not knowing that it was a thing. Where did he come from. Tupaia came from a small island from the french part of Polynesia. His islands name was Raiatea. He was well known as a high priest navigator. He unexpectedly, came to New Zealand while voyaging for new islands. On Tupaia's way back to England he died to a sickness called pneumonia, also he had scurvy. I found Tupaia's adventure very fascinating and it's sad for it to come to an end.

HIGH STAKES!?!? MATH (GONE WRONG)

As pressure over comes me, I start to seize up. Hold on let me tell you how I got to this point.

Hi as you know my name is Kahutia, your probably mad and want to read ahead, but I would like you to stay.  On the 13th of August, me and my fellow classmates learnt about how to find the rule of the problem. We were presented with this problem
We had to find a way to figure it out, my group decided to use a t-chart, if you would like to further investigate what it is, use papa google. after we worked it out we put down our answers, as you could see that the question in the image. For our answers we got, 26, 66, 146. and our rule was: each Kaho we added makes 4 Tuinga. We had to present this was our time to show our work. I couldn't help but shake "I can't do this" I thought
but I went with it, our performance was terrible but we marched through like troopers. Here's a slideshow of how we solve them.

OMG KAHUTIA DID WHAT!! IN HIS HOLIDAY?!?!?!?!??!

Yes Kahutia did something truly fascinating during his holiday, you would not think a youngster like him would even think about this. There is a moral comment it down below.

Welcome once again my title has interested you, well you won't be disappointed. I'm going to take you on the adventure I had after the 9 horrific weeks of school. After I had left the town I so dearly call home, I found myself wondering what must I do. The lethal whiff of boredom had me stuck and I thought to myself I must escape this prison of apathy. I looked all over the streets of wellington I see myself in a crowd i'm unaffiliated with. I back my way out happy that I left them and remember the streets "My friend should live around here" I thought.
I roam the corners and gaze apon his street sign.
 "Bingo" I happily expressed.
It had been months since I had been there, I hoped he was excited to see me, we are best friends so he should. I see myself turning the corner into his street I stare at his house
"here we go I guess" Whispered to myself.
As I quietly stride towards his house, He had already walked out to greet me. He tells me there is probably nothing to do but I had him some lollies and say
"Nah its fine"
As we walk inside I notice his sister climbing across the table, I'm thinking in my head is this kid spider-man. I look at his screen and hes playing minecraft, I kinda laughed in my head and thought, I think there truly is nothing to do. I grab my controller out of my bag so we could play together, and he shows me around the village that he and a few other friends had made, he told me to find a place to add my house. I look and look but nothing that peaks my curiosity but I end up suiting with a tree. after the end of constructing my house I find nothing else that would seem fun so I get off and tell him i'm heading down to the dairy.

On the way I noticed the trail was awfully quiet but I didn't think otherwise. I see the additional creeps hanging around the corners, I Slowly pick up speed so I could get around other people. Once I arrived at the dairy I didn't know what to get put I ended up buying me and my friend a pie and drink. When I started walking back and I took my time cause it was really hot at his house. I looked around for the creeps but they weren't there, a sigh of relief. But I couldn't help but wonder what they were doing, I don't even know if they were creeps, Never mind that I should just think about this pie going in my belly *crunch* yum now time get back to his house.
"Tana you there, Hello!?"
I couldn't find him anywhere I didn't think he would just leave so I went to the kitchen and put his pie on the bench. I walked into his room still wondering why he won't answer, than it hit me he must of got taken by the creeps I run down the street to see Tana walking back.
"Where did you go?" I say in a worried tone
"To the dairy you egg"He says confusingly
As my mind starts to settle down I think about the creeps again, sorry shouldn't judge by the cover.

The Rocket Book

Hey, My name is Kahutia and i'm going to tell you how we built a rocket it and sent it to the "stars"

So we were assigned a task by our teacher it was called the wonder project challenge, Me, Ben and Orlando first had to complete a slide, it had us write about Elton Johns rockets man and other things around the rocket topic.

We had an ambassador teach us about psi, aerodynamics, how to launch it and the problems we will face if we come upon it, like if the wind is to rough or there is people is the way or if the rocket misfired.

So if the rocket didn't launch we weren't aloud to touch it just encase it launches, And if the wind was to rough it could change the course of the rocket but when we launched it kept going to the right/the way the wind was blowing. after all that we are making adjustments to our rockets to see if that will help the flight.

The highest water in the bottle was 300ml and this time we had to decide how much water and how much pressure we could use.

We could only use 60psi but even so the rockets went really high but the track of the rocket was a bit unbalanced but it flew super high so I was proud of my group. I feel like our group did pretty good with all the parts and constructing it but one of our flaws was we got distracted. When we launched our rocket we used 150ml of water and 60psi.

It was a great experience and i'm thankful thank we were able to do this.

The Importance Of The Teachers Strike

Today we will discuss why teachers in New Zealand went on Strike.

On the 29th of May our teachers went on strike because they needed something to change. Teachers were being over worked and which they did not get payed enough to do. Teachers had to work at home and stay at school late. I agree that they should have got the day off because being over worked can lead to stress and that's not good. but hopefully they will retrieve a proper treatment and gain from this instead of losing money, this is for the kids as well if they don't get enough money the kids won't get a good enough education to get anywhere good in life.

A Beautiful Message

Have you ever experienced something so precious, that it could change the atmosphere? Well we did.

On a Monday the 27th of May, Me and my whole school were lucky enough for a group called Revolution Tour came to our school to tell use some very powerful messages. There was a mix of humour, sadness, happiness and singing through out the performance. They told us stories to help us change the world, and some just to inspire us. the crowd was shocked when the host gave us a really sad story. This story was about him and a boy named Nathan, Nathan was 2 years older than Ben, Ben is the person who was at the stage talking to us. Ben talked about how trustworthy he was and how much he aspired to be like Nathan, I mean they were neighbours and always watched Dragon Ball Z every day together. But... One day when Ben went to work with his dad, his dad walked up to him and said "Son go wait in the car i'll close down today"
Ben took this as a red flag but obeyed his father willingly. After a few minutes of waiting in the car, his dad finally came back. Ben saw his dads chest go up and down, he was taking a deep breath. Bens dad got into the car and told him these three words that changed his life forever "Nathan.......Has..........Pasted"
His heart dropped as he said those words, and his dad explained how it happened. Nathan was the captain of the soccer team, he was on the field as it happened, he past the ball and then he collapsed soon after he lost grip and was no longer with us. At Nathans funeral there was 3 a half thousand people there, Ben wondered what about a teenage boy could change this much peoples lives. As Nathans Mother stood up and talked, "This is a message from a girl at your school, Hey my name is Stacy, I didn't have any friends so I didn't want to go to school but Nathan changed that, Because every time I walked past him he would say, Sup Stace just the fact he had a nickname for me made me think I had a friend and there was a point to got to school for that. Thank you for making Nathan Love Stacy"
Then He finally realised what Nathan had done. Thank you Revolution Tour For sharing these Beautiful Stories with us AMEN.

The Adventures Of Kahutia

After the story came to a halt on the end of a term, we have some new exciting stories for me to tell. When the week came to me I was happy school had finished but something didn't feel right, I was bored and had nothing to do but I wasn't gonna be defeated by the acts of boredom. I had an idea, an idea that would cure my boredom but this wont sound fun, well I decided I was gonna play Fortnite a popular game that was first introduced all the way back in 2011 but the game was finally released on July the 25, but only for the people that had preordered it on the 21 of July. After hours of giggling with my friends I finally got off but that boredom had come back to me and I was leaving to go on a trip in 3 hours so I went to the mall and to some lunch and got a haircut once it was all over I went to my Mothers house.

All of my things were packed in my bag and it was time to leave, we were on our way to Rotorua

The School Science Fair!

On the 28 March Otaki College was lucky enough to be able to experience Science in its amazing form. All the year 7/8 classes attended these acts.

The first was a duo that showed us about the gravity and stars. They explained that when stars die it makes a super nova and that's how the universe was created. Also they talked about what would happen when James Bond ejected out of his seat without a parachute, what we were trying to accomplish was where James would land. Obviously the real James Bond wasn't going to come to my school, so we did it with an ejecting toy car and a marble. everyone was given the chance to tell everyone where they think the marble was going to land, After we did that we tested where the marble would land and the answer was he landed beside the car because usually the parachute slows your momentum that's why you would land behind the car but since when he was shot out he carried out that momentum and landed next to the car.

After all that we all stood up and walked around the room to see all of these science activities that all the students would be able to use, there were many but the best one that I experienced was probable this flash thing. how it worked was you look at this big light then they flash it and quickly turn to this board and you will see something on that board unfortunately I can't explain how the figure looked.

What the?!?! The Mayor of Kapiti was at our school?!

Hello my name is Kahutia and i'm going to tell you about something really boring but read anyway I might get better grades. On the 11th of march me and the year eights, not to be rude, but we got dragged into a ceremony that was super long and boring but i'm gonna bring you down with me. About this ceremony there were a whole bunch of special people that fought in the war and captains for the navy and some soldiers came. Three of our teachers welcomed them in using a technique called the Karanga, the teachers that did the karanga, names were Whaea Destine and Whaea Maharata you won't know these people but they are important to the story because of how important this role is. After and of the special people came in a priest walked up to the lectern and gave a speech about a ship called the SS Otaki and the SMS Moewe, about all of the people that lost their lives fighting in the war. After he finished his speech he invited the principal to have a word with everyone half of the speech was in Te Reo Maori than the other half was English after he did that we all stood up to sing a song to the others.  I'm not sure if it was the priest or the principal that gifted the stuff to the special people i'm just going to say the priest did. So the priest went back up to his stand and started giving the special people wreaths to put on the statue of the SS Otaki to show our respect towards them. When they finished we stood up and sung again. Than the orchestra started playing than put the flags half down and we had a minute of silence. Than once all of this finished the priest went up and asked all of the special people to join them in the staff room for a cup of tea.

In the ceremony I enjoyed the orchestra and something I learnt was the flag half down.
hopefully this writing bored you :)

Every time the colours changed was a new paragraph.

Act Of Kindness

So today in class we were learning about respect and kindness. So for the people that don't understand yet i'm going to explain it thoroughly. Okay there are 5 levels including 0, all these levels represent the kindness and the negativity that comes with your personality. Levels 0-2 are the rude ones so what you need to work on. than level 3-5 are the levels of kindness, so the higher level you are the nicer and kinder you are. What I would like to achieve is to bring Otaki college pride by bringing my PE gear and not to get distracted as much in class. My name is Kahutia and i'm signing off.

What we learnt about in writing

Hello today i'm going to discus the activity me and my class attended to today.  So we were learning about the adverb starts and another thing called preposition, and also simple sentences. I'm going to start with simple sentences only cause it's the easiest, all you got to do it start with he, she, from, it , a name of a place and a persons name. Like this. He was not expecting that. Short and simple. Next an adverb start. the adverb start goes a little like this. Quickly, he raced to the end of the hall to get to  class. start with an adverb and the after that comes the comma. So finally we have the last but not least, the preposition, a preposition is were you put the position of something at the start like. behind the draw was where my bottle lied. and that is what i learnt hope you learned something new as well.
